This internship program is primarily intended for high school and college students. Moreover, while Gen-Z for Financial Literacy is based in the United States, we have staff worldwide, and internship work is done remotely. Applicants are encouraged to apply regardless of location or time zone.

What’s the ideal candidate for the program?
Someone with an understanding of the importance of financial literacy and personal finance (it does not matter if you have taken a personal finance class in school or not, though).
Someone with a desire to increase financial literacy rates in Gen-Z and have today’s students be more equipped to enter the real world financially stable.

Intern at Gen-Z For FINANCIAL literacy

Gen-Z for Financial Literacy’s internship program is divided by seasons (e.g., Summer 2021 cohort, Spring 2022 cohort). Each new batch of interns is called a ‘cohort.’
We usually accept new interns every season, and interns have the option to extend their internship at the end of their season. For example, an intern admitted as part of our Fall 2022 cohort will have the option to stay at Gen-Z for Financial Literacy at the end of Fall 2022, as long as their performance has been consistently satisfactory.

Our internships are at-will, and interns complete assignments on an ad-hoc basis. Instead of meeting every day or being online from 9 AM - 5 PM (like a regular job), interns will mainly be assigned tasks and projects; these tasks and projects will have deadlines. Interns should also expect to participate in Zoom or Google Meet meetings.
Specific responsibilities vary by intern group, and our internship program is divided into two teams: 1) Media and 2) Outreach & Sponsorship (O&S). The Media Group helps with Gen-Z for Financial Literacy’s marketing, public relations, and social media. The O&S Group focuses on partnership development and organization growth, assisting with our podcast and advisory board. Interns have the option to join one (or both) intern groups. Interns may be expected to use Microsoft Word, G-Suite, and Canva, depending on specific tasks and projects.

The at-will nature of our internship program means that interns complete assignments on an ad-hoc basis. Internships last until the end of the cohort season.
Example: If you were accepted as part of our Spring 2023 Internship Cohort, we anticipate your internship lasting until at least the end of Spring 2023 (June 21st, 2023), barring any unforeseen circumstances. In June, you will have the formal option to continue or terminate your internship with Gen-Z for Financial Literacy.

While interns receive a variety of great benefits, this internship position is unpaid.

This internship program is primarily intended for high school students, college students, and recent graduates. However, there is no maximum age restriction. Due to legal requirements, interns must be at least 15 years old at the start of their internship; unfortunately, we cannot grant exceptions to this policy.

Admission to Gen-Z for Financial Literacy’s internship program is competitive. We typically receive four applications per spot available. The average cohort size ranges from five to 15 interns, depending on our organization's needs and application numbers.

We understand that many of our interns are also full-time students. Since this internship is an ad-hoc basis, you will likely have control over how many projects you take on, how many teams you are a part of, and, consequently, how much time you spend each week on our organization.
The average intern spends anywhere from three to 10 hours each week. During your intern onboarding meeting, the intern coordination team will work with you to find a suitable schedule.

Nope, we just ask that all interns have access to a computer and a stable WiFi connection. We will provide you with all the platforms and applications you will need throughout your internship.

While previous internship experience is not explicitly required, we would love to hear about your extracurricular involvements or volunteer experience.
If you are interested in working as a media intern, please list any previous experience you have with Canva, Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, Riverside.fm, Anchor, or Spotify. If you are interested in working on the Outreach & Sponsorship team, please list any previous experience you have in public relations or sponsorship management.
